This is your amazing birth

All too often people can’t wait to tell you all about their horrific labour story – how it went on for days, the pain they felt, and how it was the worst experience in the world. When you’re pregnant it is easy to spend the majority of those 40 or more weeks dreading labour, when it would be nicer, and more beneficial to you and your baby to ‘smell the flowers’ along the journey as opposed to dreading and fearing the end. Pregnancy yoga is all about putting you back in control of your body, your birth and your baby, and in preparing you mentally, emotionally and physically for the transition to motherhood. You will see labour as simply the amazing journey of your little one into the world and you will be ready to try lots of positions to make that journey a bit easier for both of you. Remember you were made perfectly for this birth, and your baby knows exactly what to do! Trust in your body and your baby – you and your little one make the perfect team.

New mummies need TLC too!

After giving birth, all eyes inevitably turn to your bundle of joy! Of course this is a time where baby’s needs do come first, and you want to do all you can to keep your newborn happy and healthy. But don’t forget about you. It’s more important than ever at this time that you get some rest whenever you can, eat and drink healthily and get some time on your own from time to time. Postnatal yoga could be that time out of the house where you put your needs first. Simple adapted poses can help you feel yourself again and get some control back of your body. Guided relaxation can also give you mental and emotional space. Sometimes, taking a bit of time for yourself can give you renewed energy to look after everyone else!

Bonding with your beautiful bump!

Pregnancy is the most precious of times and pregnancy yoga is ideal for giving you some ‘me and bump time! In addition to this wonderful time to bond with your little one, pregnancy yoga classes will also give you the opportunity to meet other mums-to-be, prepare you mentally, physically and emotionally for this journey to motherhood, and give you opportunity to unwind and relax after your day. I run classes in Gnosall (Staffordshire) and Newport (Shropshire) so please get in touch if you would like to chat or get more information. You don’t have to be super-bendy by the way! Just come along to enjoy classic yoga adapted for pregnancy and labour, guided relaxation and a cuppa/biscuit! Drop me a line at yogamebaby@yahoo.co.uk xx
